finally i purchased my 24 inch. repti glow tube bulb:D
so now im wondering if it would be a good idea to set it up on the side of the cage going vertically down the side of the cage,,or should i just put it horizontally at the top? does the uv need to be fed from the top or does it matter?

From the top is my best guess on this one. UV rays reflect from all around but in nature start from the top and reflect down.

Plus from the side your cham might not be able to hide to well. Also from the side (not sure what your enclosure looks like) you may not get all the exposure you would want or expect.

Yep horizontally is the best way - that way you get a good 'covering' of UV across the width of the viv

UVB light should be on top of the cage, shining down into it, near to the heat lamp, mimicing the sun. This allows the chameleon to move out of the UVB easily if desired.
