Hoping I can pick your brains....

Hello, next year I have to accomplish my Ib personal project. This project is a year long project, that consists of a final product, process journal and a essay. From past 10th graders I have spoken to, they say to do it on something that you love and want to be around for the next year. My first thought was of course chameleons. My parents weren't too happy with this, as they want it to be on something more worldly. Does anyone have any ideas that could incorporate chameleons, the world and perhaps making it better?
Thanks! Also I promise I won't directly use your idea, I just need some help.:)

Some point that could include the world.. they do come from different places.. continents even..they need to live on trees so conservation efforts help reduce deforestation which may reduce global warming .. well the global warming one may be a stretch u would have to research that. They keep bug population down? encourage tourism? peace on earth? w the world travel I mean... Look at some of the blogs on here u may even get permission to use some of the very cool pics and vids if u ask nice? what of the color spectrum.. u could use it in relation to modern medicine/military strategies and what not...hehe don't know how though:confused:. Oh and they don't all live on trees the pygmy ones live on leaf litter etc u can run w that angle too? natural fertilizer? ah something about earth and life...If u use the conservation angle .. well other exotic animals and plant species that live in the same area benefit.. even the bugs,:) there are all kinds of ways u can include the world those r just some random points my tired brain can think of, they may be worth something and maybe not.. I may wake up and wonder what it was I was thinking to even enter this.. but here goes...

Thanks! :)

I think maybe somthing along the lines of like raising awareness of general chameleon care, through out like maybe my city/state/world act....

Thanks! :)

Ok, want a teacher's opinion? If not, don't read this;) You are limiting yourself with the environmental thing. Think outside the box.

When I think of how you could tie chameleon ownership into something "worldly", I think of the things one can learn from raising chameleons (teachers love when you talk about learning). Chameleon ownership prepares YOU to become worldly. In the past year, I have learned how to conquer drainage, the effects of excess and insufficient moisture in a balanced ecosystem, transfer of energy from consumers (gut-load) to producers (insects then to chameleons), UVB levels (you could do several paragraph on that topic alone), the value of proper nutrition, adaptation techniques, mating, gestation, incubation........the possibilities are endless! If you really want to impress them, talk about how you used the geometry you learned to build an enclosure, or how you practiced your writing skills to effectively communicate with people around the globe to build upon your prior knowledge of chameleon husbandry. And here's the biggie....We LOVE when you tell us how you learned to problem-solve, and chameleon ownership is 99% problem-solving. I have never learned more in my life than I have from owning chameleons. The things I learned while earning a Master's in Education pail in comparison to what chameleons have taught me. Think big, you will wow them....trust me on this one;)
