Holdback question?

After viewing a variety of websites and breeders, I am wondering what goes into determining a holdback chameleon, and at what age can this really be determined? When they are so young they all look so similar to me.

A holdback as referred to by a breeder is a chameleon that exhibits exceptional size, color, or maybe something that is just unique or special, different than the other members of the same clutch. I usually hold back several from each clutch to allow them to grow and see what the color on them looks like, I can’t keep them all and thus the title a “holdback is for sale” is born.

And, for some less than ethical sellers, a claim of "holdback" gives that particular animal some desirability...it becomes a selling point that may not be very valid, especially if they are talking about a juvenile that is too young to show those special qualities they are hoping a buyer would desire. Not saying you do this at all...:)
