After a rather heated debate with a good portion of the fellow chameleon forum community, I believe it is best to apologize to anyone I have offended. With that said, let me start over by properly introducing myself.

Hi....

My name is Angelo Taylor. I am a 19 year old sophomore in college who majors in film. I live in San Leandro, CA which is in the heart of the San Francisco bay area.

In high school I decided to purchase my first veiled chameleon to satisfy that childhood obsession with dinosaurs. Unfortunately, I was rather oblivious to the needs of them. I have owned over 8 veiled chameleons in the course of 4 years. I have lost 2 of them, another two died and the rest are sitting soundly in their cages. It has been a long process and a huge investment but 8 chameleons later, I am still obsessed with these mini dinosaurs. There is still a lot i need to learn, of course.

Chameleon owners seem to be scarce in my area so thats how I came across this forum.
If there is anyone in the San Francisco bay area that is willing to make a new friend and share some pointers with me then that would be really cool.

Say hi to the noob!

Four years and eight chameleons? You don't sound like a noob to me. Try 3 weeks and two chameleons (one of which only lasted a day and a half), now thats a noob .

Yeah but about 3 of those years I had no knowledge of raising these little creatures but yeah a day and a half would suck. If its any consolation, I lost a full size female veiled chameleon when I was setting up her cage. That was the day I bought her... The look on my face was rather sour.

Ya, the chameleon I lost was one I tried to save from a pet store. That was the first and last time I try that :(. But don't be to hard on yourself about stuff in the past and don't waste your time calling yourself a noob, some of the more experienced keepers will be sure to make you feel like a noob regardless of if you admit it or not :p.

For sure! Thanks! :) Yeah, sometimes I walk by those neglected chameleons at petsmart and feel hella bad. All look horrible.

That is pretty funny, actually. Pet stores that sell horrible pets. I agree completely.

My next chams (panther and sunburst) are definitely coming from one of the sponsors, I haven't picked which one yet. I am pumped to get them, I have to wait till end of summer though .

Yeah, I bought a baby female from LLL at the reptile show on saturday. They were pretty damn nice and gave some great advice.

My roommate and I both went the LLL reptile in oceanside and in escondido. They had very clean stores, some of the employees could have been a bit more friendly and the actual enclosures of the chameleons could have been better. But they did have some great healthy looking chams as well as other great looking reptiles. They also had practically any supply you could ask for.

I will have to check out the oceanside store when I move to orange county next year.
