Hissing?

Hello everyone,

I hope you and your chameleons are all well!

Recently I've noticed that my veiled chameleon is making these strange noises. He seems to be hissing, or (to better describe it) it's like he's exhaling. He started with these sounds about a week (maybe a little less) and the sound occurs about every 10 minutes. At first I thought he was feeling threatened, but he still makes the sound when there are virtually no stimuli. Is this normal or should I worry? Oh, and just in case it makes a difference he is currently in shed (though he is still eating normally).

Thank you all so much in advance,

Does he keep his mouth open? Any excess saliva or "popping" sounds to your knowledge ?
No, I have seen him gape in the past (I think he was doing it because his light was too close to his basking perch), but recently he hasn't had an issue with that. No signs of saliva or popping either, though, out of curiosity what would that indicate?

Also, I give him showers sometimes, would that affect his respiratory system?
