hey all, I had my forays into reef keeping back in the day and was always fascinated with the extreme color changes you get with coral when introducing high spectrum blue LEDs or high kelvin MH lights. The color change comes from fluorescent proteins that hit their peak excitation with high spectrum light
as far as I know a cham's chromatophore pigments dont contain any fluorescent proteins, but some of the blues are from iridescent pigments that might light up nicely w/ a blue/purple LED
the difference was pretty interesting:

go buy some blue/purple LEDs and try it out!
