Before I became a forum member and learned about toxic plants and non toxic plants for chams, I took some large pieces of bamboo, about an inch and a half in diameter, and cut into two equal pieces to make highways for my then 2-4 month old Veiled. It had no affect on him from what I could tell and he's still with me over half a year later. Not saying that the bamboo rango2012 is using isn't toxic, as there are different types of bamboo, but the kind I used didn't harm my cham.

thank you

hi there thanks for the responce i have not added the bamboo yet its just your average indoor plant that i have had for many years i take cuttings that are not fed any food just water

Post a pic of the bamboo and maybe someone on here will know exactly what kind it is and if it is safe or not. If it's one of the kinds that you buy for decoration that grow in swirly shapes instead of straight up, then I don't think it's the same kind of bamboo I used.

As for dried bamboo, the only way you'll know for sure is if you post a pic of what kind of bamboo it is, and if someone on here can identify it as toxic or not.

With all that said, I have a hypothesis that if it has any toxicity at all, it could be that if by breaking off any foilage from it could cause a type of toxic/irritant sap, or if your cham was to consume any part of the bamboo.
