ok what are the chances that my male veiled is actually a hermaphrodite? he is about 7 months now and has been acting really wierd. he has a lot of females characteristics. he gets blueish spots on him. he also has been pacing his cage A LOT and has even been walking on the floor to. almost looking for a place to lay eggs. he never looked bigger but the last couple days he has gotten a lot bigger almost if he is gravid. he has just gotten bigger toward the back of his stomach area. :/ has anyone had a problem like this or any expierience with this?

I'm assuming that's him in your avatar??? Looks pretty male- Get a good photo of his heel and post it. I've joked about 'Hermaphrodite chameleons' but I've never heard of one in actuality.

I HIGHLY DOUBT your cham is a hermaphrodite. Maybe a transvestite. Kidding...
Sounds like a female to me. Does the veiled have spurs behind the back feet? That would be the indicater of a male veild chameleon.

he has a really dominate spur. but he just acts so much like a female smetimes so thats wat gets me thinking. maybe cause he is maturing? also i got another cham in the room but i have a divider up so they cant see eachother and they are across the room maybe thatsw it? but he pooped yesterday

Males will often cruise their territory inside the cage. They like to know their surroundings.
I don't think you have anything to worry about unless he stops eating and stays at the bottom of the cage.

They say some veileds have been known to dig holes when the weather turned too cold for them in their natural habitat. Never witnessed it though.

Im thinking he might be a little impacted. have you noticed him eating dirt or have you been feeding alot of greens?? maybe its a poop issue?? or he just goes both ways?!?!

maybe i will throw in a laying ben and see what he does? what wld i put in the laying ben?

You have a normal male. Blue spots are normal and pacing can mean a few things. He may be hungry, crowded or just bored.

I have experienced both male and female vieleds descending from their trees, digging holes and nesting in the root balls of plants to sleep as summer turns to fall and temps drop at night

So- the big question is, if I start eating pickles with icecream like a pregnant lady, does that make me an hermaphrodite? LOL

Just for accuracy, a hermaphrodite would have both male and female genitalia. I don't think that's what you have in mind here.

Rather, I think you suspect you have either a "manly" female or a "girly" male.

As most--if not all species--have some variances in things like that I don't find it surprising in the least.

i am aware of what a hermaphrodite is thats why i was asking what are the chances are of that happening or if everyone has heard of that? but i guess its just a a change that i was not aware wld happen thats all. and his last BM was yesterday he had another one he will have one about every other day.
