He is so cool!

I would have loved some of these, but i've moved away from them for now. I bet a female would be impressive!

They don't bite, but when they feel threatened they spread their wings, get into a boxer stance, and try to slash you with their claws. I have I video Ill try to upload.

Females are very impressive, I have 3 girls right now, one of them should lay an ootheca soon.

Very nice! Kind of a cross between a stick bug and a mantid. :p

Yeah the males do resemble sticks, but the females are pretty bulky and can't fly.

Thanks for all the comments/compliments.

RIP little guy.

They don't live very long once they are adults and this guy was old to begin with. Atleast he mated before he died. I have some ootheca now.

I wish there were mantid that lived long. If there were I'd consider getting into them. :-(

I've actually had these at one point - probably the only one's in Scandianavia at he time - beatifull small critters !

Lizard, Do you know what part of Texas these mantis are found? I live near H-town and Ive never seen a mantis like that around southeast texas.

That would be a question to ask on the mantid forum. But I believe they are found predominately in Mexico but some parts of Texas bordering that area.
