here is my set up,,, what do you think???

it's going to be for a baby veiled, 10 weeks ish of age .... Stanley is his name, i'm going to be getting a Luie and Camille baby from Jann and i'm sooooo excited!!!!!... i hope to get him around the first week in June, so i have time to make corrections..

trying to landscape a small cage is like trying to aquascape a small aquarium... not so easy...
i can't wait to move up to a larger enclosure.. it's got to be easier, (fingers crossed) :)

don't be shy, i want you to be painfully honest about it...
i still have to add the temp/humidity gauges, and dripper but those are easy add ons...and should happen this afternoon....

it's a 16x16x30 lllreptile cage..
starter misting system from MistKing..
5.0 UVB bulb from Reptisun..
schifelera..
pothos..
grape vine and manzanita for climbing plus some bamboo....

here it is,, please tell me what you think....

i'm using terra cotta pots to help retain moisture.. stones on top of soil in the potted plants to keep there from being any soil ingested, may go to hydro balls if necessary, to help with humidity..

MistKing mister will be running off of MistKing timer periodically, depending on what is needed to keep the the humidity up..
drip system to be installed for drinking opertunities...

basking light will be added as necessary..

thanks for looking,, lisa

oh yeah,,, it's not going to be in front of the door... i'm just in the process of relocating an aquarium so his cage can go in the den with us... should be completed this afternoon... :)

I think your setup looks lovely! I used the terra cotta pots at one time and they developed mold, on the outside of the pot itself. It just stayed too moist with the mistings. Just keep an eye out for that. You will love your new baby from Jann!

thanks Heather!!!
i'm sooo excited yet a bit nervous about receiving Stanley, guess that's understandable for a new "mother".. :)
... i want it all to be perfect, my husband says i'm obsessive.. oh well..;)

the pots can definitely be changed out, if necessary, i had read that they helped with keeping the humidity levels up.. once i get my gauges in there, i'll know a lot more as to what i need to do or undo.. :)

thanks sooo much for your input... lisa

Yes, it's perfectly understandable! I think you will be very pleased with your new baby and get a lot of enjoyment out of watching him grow up!

I would use the pots as long as no mold develops, no problem. I think Stanley is going to love his new home!

everything looks great! mold develpes on grapevine too so just keep an eye underneath & such. no biggie. keep the basking light off to one side so you get a bit of a shady side. probably heard that though. awesome setup, sure your cham will love it. nice work:)

thanks pantherlover,,
i really appreciate your opinion...
yeah, when i do add the basking light, i'll position it off to one corner/side so he can pick and choose where he wants to be...
thanks again,,,lisa

Looks great Lisa! You may want to add a couple lower levels of horizontal sticks.

Stanley is going to be a lucky little boy :D

Anytime!!!:D I would have got a baby but i have so many on the way. So i better see your little guy grow up great and have TONS of pics!! hehe

don't worry,, from the looks of it, a day won't go by without there being a Luie and Camille baby pic being posted!!!!! :)

i'm anxiously awaiting your "hatching" post!!!!
lisa

i was going to add the green poultry fencing that you get from HD to the inside of the cage but after getting it i became concerned about the size of the holes in it.. my concern is that a small (10 week old) veiled may become entrapped between it and the original caging... am i just over worrying???
lisa

i think that may be a valid concern while he is still small. I would wait and add that later after he has grown. When they are still little, the screen should not rip their nails too badly. You could also tie some sticks to the sides of the cage so that he does not feel like the screen is his only foot hold. Barbecue scewers come to mind as a cheap option for that. Nice setup by the way.

I agree. I would wait until he's older. I didn't use the plastic fencing until my cham moved into her adult cage around 8 months old. They are heavier by that time and more weight to pull on their nails if they are hanging on the side.

thanks reptoman...
i like the skewer idea. i have some shish kabob skewers that would probably work, i could place them vertically for a foothold other than the screen itself... lisa
