Here we go again :(

Frita swallowed what looks like the back half of her tongue. She was eating a very small super worm and made a inhaling sound upon retraction. I put another one not thinking about it, and she couldn't shoot her tongue. I looked on the mouth and the only way to explain what I see is like the long part of the tongue is swallowed doubled up but the bulbous looking end part is still there. I can't even explain it really. Instead of resting in her mouth all bunched up she swallowed the bunched part? I am taking her to the vet first thing and I'm afraid we will just remove the tongue. I'm so afraid I won't notice and she will get sick or possibly die. This is the third time she has done this. I gave her some anti inflammatory meds she had left over and some water. I just don't understand this at all. Why do they do this?

I'm so sorry frita is having trouble again. Maybe it's for the best if they remove her tongue, they can cope with it I believe. Not nice for you and her to be going through I know.
Who knows why she's done this again, maybe she has a clumsy tongue :/
Keep us updated, sending good wishes your way.
Kath.

Sorry about her tongue.. My cham still has his tongue issue..It is for more thank two months now. Please let us know what the vet said! I hope she is going to be all right!

I think it's best too. I can't stop her from swallowing it, so this possibly might be the only resolve. I know she can eat like a ground lizard. I'm honesty not too worried now after reading up on chams living successfully without their tongues; Iv come to grips that little ms is going to lose it. It's that or she will keep eating it, and I can't have that.

My husband said she must just like to really eat a lot( his horrible attempt to lighten the situation) lol

huhhh, I might have to think about that option too?! I don't have a reptile vet here, so the vet and I can just guess what's his problem is...
At least you have a good vet! I heard they can live a good life without their tongue. She will learn!
