im not sure what reptars deal is but my 2 m/o veiled is eating the potting soil from the plants. I took all substrate out after the 2nd day because he was intentionally eating it. but now he seems to have discovered the soil in the pothos plant I dont know how to break this habit.

I use rocks that are to big for the cham to eat that way you can still water your plants and the cham wont be able to get to the soil

also some people say they do that to get nutrients that they aren't getting in their diet I would look up information on Gut loading feeders and dusting

this is the first time ive caught him doing it. you don't think that he could've already caused himself harm do you?

You will want to use river rocks. I saw my Moe eating dirt and I added rocks to cover the soil. The next day I came home and found him loudly chewing on a rock! (I mean it was painfully loud). Now I cover the soil (organic) with river rocks, and the river rocks with a plastic mesh.

By the way, is the soil your guy ate organic? If not, you may want to look out for signs of illness. Fertilizer and styrofoam pieces that are in a lot of soil can be deadly to your chameleon.

We got the plant from an exotic pets store and I was told it was natural soil but still said the little guy shouldn't ingest it. It was really weird to see though, like i've seen him bite the leaves but he climbed down to the base and wolfed down two bites that i saw and until I get some decent sized rocks covered the soil with a paper towel.
