My female went to lay eggs today and the sand collapsed on her and i came home and had to dig her out and shes got to get the eggs out right? And she doesnt look too good and she has sand all in her mouth? Help please !!!

Thanks

Pat the sand down good, and dig a starter hole for her with a spoon. Make sure the sand is moist enough to hold its shape. Remove her and lightly hose away sand on her with lukewarm water, and place her back. And then give her lots of privacy to try again.

Basically what sims said. What I did was use play sand and water. It holds tunnels great. Used a 5 gallon bucket. Moist it good. And with your fingers, try to dig down and to an angle and see of it will hold. Because they don't usually go straight down. More like a 95 degree dig lol. Well mine did at least. What I did was dig two holes for her and still left room for her to dig her own. But I was just showing her that holes are there and can be made. I dug about a two inch hole that she could fit in (in diameter) and a small hole that is on the edge of the bucket. They usually like to dig on the side of the buckets/bins. Dk why! Also, give her privacy! If she sees you digging, she will bail the bin and become egg bound. I surround the enclosure with poster boards on all sides so the light can come in through the top and she can be private. And I peak on her through the top or listen for digging! But just try to make the the lay bin medium most and digging type. So she can make her hole! Test it first before u put it in. It takes energy from we to dig even a little. You don't want it to happen again! Also rinse her off with some warm water. Sand on her face and mouth can cause anything stress. Lol good luck and keep us updated
