hi iam new to having chameleon s ive got a yemen about 14 weeks old ,she was not great at me picking her up but i thought she might get better if i picked her up every other day,but she is digging alot and when i go to pick her up she try s to bite me and hisses at me(she never done that before)is it because she is trying to lay her eggs,?

She's too young to lay eggs. What is the temperature in the enclosure? Chameleons don't like to be handled, so her reaction is totally normal. If she is new, you need to give her time to acclimate and settle in. Then, you can handle her if necessary on a LIMITED basis, as handling stresses them out.

As far as the digging, I am not sure why she is doing this. Can you give us the answers to these questions and we can see if it's an issue with the enclosure/husbandry?

Could you please give us the answers to these questions so we can help you identify any other problems and figure out what this one is?

first ive had her 5 weeks i feed her 5 crickets a day in the morning dusted with culcium 5 days a week ,then a multivitamin at the weekend, temp 80,humidity 75,she has a 3ft high viv glass front loads of hinding places, she eats like a pig drinking every other day,i missed 3 times a day,but ever since she has been digging she shows signs of stress if u go near the viv?

her droppings are a bit yellow at the min ,her viv is out of the light in the conner but has plenty of air in and out the vitamin i use is nutrobal and exo terra calcium, the shop says she was 9 or 10 weeks old when i got her but ive had her for 5 weeks,

Danny, while typically 14 weeks would be considered too early for a chameleon to lay eggs, it's possible that the age is not completely accurate. I've seen reports on here of 5 month olds laying eggs. I think your safest bet would be to put a laying bin in the cage for her.

You might also want to post a picture of her. That could help clear things up.
