Help

This AM My 11 month old Nosy shot his tongue at a couple of small rocks in one of his plants. I grabbed him and got one out but was unable to get the other as he was pissed and biting me... OUCH!! Not sure what to do?? It was only the size of a BB but still. His colors have been darker but he still seems to be moving around.

Could his colors just be cause of the stress of trying to get the rock??

Please help!!!

All you can do now is hope that it passes out the other end and replace the stones with bigger ones that can't possibly be ingested.

Well there's nothing you can do about that rock now. But you need to take out the other rocks NOW to prevent it from happening again! If you want rocks at the bottom of your plant that's fine, but they need to be bigger than your cham's head so he can't eat them.

Watch for normal feces. If you really want to be sure you can check the feces for the rock. Other than that all you can do it wait for it to pass and if he stops having bowel movements for too long you should take him to the vet for an xray to see if it's stuck.

My question is, why would you have small rocks like that in his plants? There have been so many posts on this forum about not putting small rocks in your plants to cover up the soil for this very reason!!! Same with substrate and this why the forum frowns upon it! Hopefully if he ate the rock it is small enough to pass it. I hope your cham will be alright.

They were the little rocks in the soil. I have the plants soil covered with screen and the little bugger found a tiny spot where the screen had moved. I was right there when he did it. He must have walked on the screen and moved them. None of my Chams have ever done this before.

Thanks for all the help. It sucks worrying about him. His colors are dark compared to normal, not sure if it was the stress of trying to get them or not. He loves silks and they make he go P..P really quick.

I am wondering if that will help?? You think?

keeping him hydrated so it's easier to go is definitely a good idea....but as recommended, would just watch him to make sure he doesn't stop going.... sometimes they pass some pretty large feces, with pretty much whole crickets almost if they're not digesting well, so he might be able to pass it.... the vet would probably recommend the same thing....close monitoring and then taking him in if he's not going or hasn't passed it within a short time...
