Hey guys, i think my chameleon has a puffy eye. My camera isnt working and i am far from a vet. What should i do. The bottom of his left eye seems deflated. She keeps closing her eyes. I saw only two possibilities. Either she has puffy eye or she got some sort of sand in her from when she was digging at the bottom of her cage to lay her infertile eggs. Please help guys.:(

It is not uncommon for them to get sand lodged in the eye when laying eggs. I would very gently spray the eye with water from a low pressure sprayer to help her rinse it out. If you don't have low pressure spray bottle you could run slightly warm tap water in a very thin gentle stream and hold her eye under it for a second. Perhaps help her rinse it like this a few times a day. If you don't see improvement ina day or 2 you may wish to consult a vet.

What if she actually has puffy eye and its not just dusty kinda sand that got in her eye. What should i do then.

Although there are many causes for puffy eyes it is probably safest for her if you start with the most benign treatment, rinsing with water. Especially since you mentioned she just laid eggs in sand. I wouldn't worry until you've tried that. Then go on from there.

Could this cause her to die?

I can't think of anything that would cause puffy eyes that could end up killing her in a very short time. Since you just noticed the eye problem I would say you have a little time to try a few differnet avenues before she is in grave danger.
