Hi, I'm new here and also new to owning a chameleon. I purchased a veiled chameleon about 3 weeks ago, and I'm not sure of the age of the chameleon... But he could easily fit his body and half of his tail on a finger. The reptile store I bought it from said he was 3 mos, but that was a guess. I feed 12 small crickets a day, once a week they have calcium and D3. My chameleon has an awesome appetite, and poops once a day with pure white urate. He has his humidity from 40-50 and higher when I mist (3/4 times a day for 5 minutes). 85*F basking spot and around 70* on the cooler side. He seems happy and is always active, but today I looked in the cage and saw something peculiar. There is a glob of something, it is about 1/3 the size of him, and it is an applesauce-looking glob with pieces of bug (noticeably a head) in it. The bug is black (if it IS a bug), and the crickets he eats are not. I am not sure if he threw up or something? I know there are a couple boxelder bugs that have found their way into my house and maybe he got one and puked it up? Are boxelder bugs poisonous to them? If it wasn't a poinsonous bug, what would cause my Cham to throw up??!
Sorry for the long question, I wanted to give you guys all the info you needed.

bugs

boxelders I think they are poisnous if they eat it ,and it puked the rest of what was in him/her up, give it water to flush it , good luck,

Throwing up is unusual with chams. As for the bug, it may just look different because it was being digested, im not sure if the bug you mentioned would be harmful to a chameleon, but i imagine researching the bug would answer that.
Make sure your prey items are the correct size (fits between the eyes), and make sure he his plenty hydrated. If symptoms reoccur often you may want to consult a vet.

I do not know what is wrong with your Cham. :( however I really incourage you to use calcium supplements every day when you feed your little guy. :)

welcome to the forum! you have come to the right place for lots of knowledge of chameleons :)

i also ask that you post a pic of what you found so that we can get a better idea of what it may be.

a picture of your cham would also be great so we can help you estimate how old he is :)

as Tay mentioned, your supplementing schedule is not ideal for veileds. its really common that many breeders and petstores do not provide accurate care information of what they sell, so its great you came here as we can give you accurate info for your new friend!
the recommended supplementation schedule for veileds is calcium without d3 at nearly every feeding, calcium with d3 twice a month, and a multivitamin twice a month. as he is fairly small i would use calcium without d3 at every feeding because he is growing a lot right now! :)

this caresheet provide accurate information of the care and housing of veiled chameleons https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/

it sounds like you are doing pretty well with him so far, great job!

do you have a UVB light for him?

Yes, I do have a UVB light for it! Here are some pictures of it, for age reasons.

And then what it threw up..Ew.

You can clearly see a beetle or something. At first I thought it was poop, but compared to the size of Bubbles and the size of Bubbles' poop.. I don't think so. It's huuuuge! And the texture doesn't look the same.. Like I said before, this is more "applesaucey" as gross as that is, and more of a yellowy color.
