help PLEASE!!

why is my 4 month old chameleons mouth open?.. everytime he baskes in the sun or under his 75w heat lamp. its almost 6 inches away from his screen. i mist him with distilled water 2 to 3 times a day. his temps are 79-84 degrees. he is a male veied cham is this normal? he has a tight grip and hes healthy. i feed him 4 to 6 crickets a day. can this be respitoral infection? what can i give him to make it go away and where can i buy the medicine just in case?

mine is roughly the same age, not sure on the gaping but he could probably eat a little more. my veiled eats 8 crix plus phoenix worms and butters. every other day some mealworms.

yea but he gasps everytime he baskes i notice it about ten minutes into his basking..what anti biotics can i use jus to be sure.

Hes to hot, and its not your fault, some dont understand that the need to move away when theyre hot

And you shouldnt get any antibiotics that do not come from a vet, some antibiotics can be really harmfull

I recently had this problem so what I did was that I switched the position of the basking bulb so it won't hit him directly and maybe misting a bit more wont hurt either

awe okay thanks guys i thought i wasnt doig a god job hes my boy and i love him alottt!! hes healthy but im still going to get him hecked out next month. Just a check up. =) i mist him alot sometimes. what i think it could be is the heat lamp can grow bacteria combined with the misting. idk but when i feed him his strike is good. and his tongue is sticky.
