Ok so I asked this question earlier and I took the responses I got and looked it up on FLChams safe plant list and the split leaf phonosomethingorother was on there but when i asked the google the pics I got back did not completely look like my plant. It was unmarked at the Walmart where I bought it and I want to make sure Im giving Icarus the best possible home I can provide. Any help in determining the exact plant is greatly appreciated

thats definately a philadendron and it is safe for chams although not very sturdy
i have a 7 month old veiled whom i also named Icarus :D he used to like to climb the screen and like the myth i was afraid he was going to get burned by the "sun" lol

phew, I almost freaked out and was looking for the closest big nursery to make a part of my day tomorrow im glad he will be ok for the next several months with this one

I thought the emergency might have been a dangerously low supply of exclamation points!
I just had to respond. :D
Glad you got your plant sorted, beware buying unmarked plants, many species look almost identical but are vastly different regards toxicity. :)

does that plant withstand a larger amount of water or should i place my drip so it drips outside the pot

Im afraid I have no idea, Im not a botanist or plant specialist :)
Somebody thought in an earlier post they knew what it was, why not google up some info about its requirements.
Very few plants like wet feet, but provided the pot is well drained there shouldnt be a problem with dripping into it, unless its particularly fussy/delicate, and you wont have to water it. :)

It should do fine with the drip on it. All the ones I have worked with liked moist soil. Almost muddy. I would also suggest a one or twice a week soaking. So take it out of the enclosure, and water it for a while to make sure the soil gets soaked. They are also pretty decent indoors, as they like shade. The ones I had were under a big oak tree, and thrived, until they froze that winter

EDIT: I also allowed the soil to dry up some before soaking again. Meaninging, I still allowed it to be a lot drier than when I soaked it before I resoaked it. So, it depends on the heat in the enclosure, as well as the humidity.

I got my humidity hovering around 50 right now, Ive read some post and will be getting what I think I need to raise the humidity tomorrow but I think im going to run a second drip and have one in the pot and one out. I am using a reptiglo 5.0 (no reptisun where i am at in stores) and a powersun aquarium tube for my full spectrum lighting, I would think that would simulate the sun for the plant but im sure you know more about these things than myself
