Help my chameleon might be prolapsing

If it went back in it should be fine, just keep an eye on it. Some people put vasiline on it if it's stuck out to keep it moist. Ive used mineral oil and that worked for me. Just remember the longer it's out and the more it gets irritated and swollen the harder it is to get back in. This can become a chronic issue with some males. Hope that helps.

It would be better to use an water-based "personal" lubricant like KY Jelly instead of an oil-based one like vaseline.

Any chance he just "flashed" you? When dropping feces or sperm plugs, the hemepenes (boy bits) will stick out for a minute or two and then should retract naturally. It can be pretty shocking the first time you see it, but so long as they go back in and do not stay out for more than a few minutes at a time, it's totally normal.

Does this look okay? It was worse a couple seconds before those

You little boy is now a man :)

I noticed my Jax, especially around months 7-8-9, would pop out his boy bits quite a lot. I think it was his way of showing potential ladies that he was "single and ready to mingle" :)

So long as they retract normally, I would keep an eye on it but don't worry just yet. Prolapses do happen, but the trick is to catch it early, keep the hemepenes moist, and get your cham to a vet ASAP.

Should I cancel the vet? And another reason is his poop looks like there's a layer of film around it, any suggestions?

Have you had a fecal check done for parasites? Always a good idea if you haven't. Also, depending on what you feed him, his poop could be "juicier" some days than others. A small bit of slime is normal. If it's more than that, you should have a fecal done.

at the vet how much would that cost? Should I bring him in

I can get a fecal check only, no vet visit for about $20. It varies, but it shouldn't be too expensive. You can always call to ask.

You don't need to bring him to the vet if the private part is back in. If it did not go back in, then yes you would still need to bring him to a vet. You would have to call your vet and find out if he will do a fecal float without seeing your chameleon. I think once your vet sees your chameleon for whatever the reason, after that he should just do fecals without having to see your chameleon. Sometimes their poop will have a slimy film around it. It is ok.
