Hello Everyone,

I’m new to this! I got a new male panther cham who is 4 months old about 2 weeks ago. I haven’t handled him for like a week, I opened the container I got him in and let him walk in his cage. After a week, I opened up his cage to clean and add new plants, and he was exploring the balcony and tried climbing on the wall and so I put a log under him in case he falls. Ofc he fell and started to run on the log and then climbed onto my head, his colors were greenish and the tail was a bit orange/red (attached pic with curly hair). Fast forward to now (a week later), I opened his cage to let him walk and eat his worms..I suddenly find him trying to climb the balcony glass and I live on like the 30th floor, so I took a log to help him and he kept trying to get to my head and wouldnt go back in his enclosure. It’s been about an hour of him sleeping on my head, he is more red than usual but thats his color when hes asleep. I assume it’s because of stress not trust.

Please let me know how I can gently handle him or let him back in his cage..I tried to put the log when he was on top of my head but he hissed at it. 06B58B7B-1F20-4D03-A9F6-9A415C2ABBA4.jpeg

Your going to have to move him with your hands... One sliding in under his head and one from behind so he walks on to your hand in front if he is awake. I would try to do this so you can see what your doing. If he is asleep do it in front of a mirror and put your hand up under his body GENTLY and hope he does not have a tight grip. and while sitting so if he falls he will not get hurt. But if your in front of a mirror you do not want him to see himself or it will put him on the defense thinking there is another cham there.

Moving forward I suggest you read every module within this link https://chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-husbandry-program-getting-started-with-chameleons/

They go to the head because it is the highest place they can get to. After 2 weeks no he does not trust you.

Thank you so much for the resources and suggestions, I safely put him back in, and I will start going through the modules. I just hope it doesn’t stress him too much and he’ll be able to sleep.
