Help! My chameleon broke his ankle! (I think)

I believe that my veiled chameleon was upside down on the top of his wire cage and somehow fell or twisted his ankle. His foot looks like it is twisted around and he is not able to grab anything, nor walk on it. Given that it is the weekend, I am not able to get in touch with any veterinarians. This incident occurred yesterday morning, and since then, his condition was worsened. I do not want him to be uncomfortable until I am able to get him to a vet. I have attached pictures. Please let me know if you agree that it's broken and also, if you have any ideas on what I can do to reduce the swelling and pain. I really appreciate your help! Thank you! :)

It looks more smashed.. :O

Are you sure it didn't get stuck when closing the cage door because it does look smashed.

The vets here have emergency hours. I don't know what else they would be able to do besides a cast of some kind.

poor guy. must be very painful.

I recommend an emergency vet to start with. They usually have enough basic knowledge or know how to look things up or can contact a reptile expert for help. Then see your regular exotics vet asap on Monday morning.
there is likely very little you can do without a vets assistance. You could put your chameleon in serious jeopardy if you attempt to medicate him yourself. opioids don't work on reptiles. Steroidal drugs are dangerous for reptiles. probably a NSAIDS will be prescribed - but not one you can get without a vet prescription

It may be the foot cannot be saved, but left untreated the animal may be in serious risk of infection and death.

The first thing to do would've been taking him to the vets straight away. I just can't imagine how much pain he must've been in. I'd freak if that happened to mine and wouldn't be able to sleep or function until he had been seen by a vet! Please keep us updated on his recovery.
