It's winter and I woke up and my chameleon's heat light was burnt out. How long can he live without heat??? I don't have any spares to replace it so I'll have to go out and buy it, but I can't do that right now. I'm FREAKING OUT.

Is he outside or inside? If he’s inside then you have nothing to worry about.

Lol your cham is fine, he could potentially go weeks without heat bulb(not that it would be good for him). The wild gets gloomy and chilly too ;)

Who's using a bulb outside lol?
Smart ass...

You can use a regular incandescent household bulb for a basking light. Wattage ..whatever givs the right temperature in the basking area.

For as much as they cost, just keep an extra one on hand for situations like this.

I buy mine in bulk now that incandescents are getting harder to find.
A day or two of no basking is not a big issue. Do expect them to eat less and then poop less for a day or two.

I did the same. Once I verified that a 60 watt worked for my setup. I bought a 12 pack off of amazon for $1.47 a bulb.
