Help me please

I have a female red-bar panther chameleon, and she had breed with a male panther chameleon about a year ago. It just so happens that both batches she had (double clutch) were infertal. In the long run I decided to buy my own male panther chameleon. He just arrived today, and is in his own cage. I made it so they are close to eachother, BUT CAN NOT SEE EACHOTHER!!!! She did see a glimps of him when I was pulling him out to put him in his cage. She is now mad at me more then ever. She tried to attach the cage when my hand was close to it, so I didnt know what to do to calm her down. Should I just cover the whole cage for now to make sure that she can calm down? The male was completely fine when he got here. He happened to be shipped from VA to OR. When he got here he was a little hyper active, but just wanted to chill out on me for a little. I didnt want to stress him out, so I put him in his cage to make sure he would be able to relax and get used to his new home. He was completely fine until about 5 mins ago when he started looking up towards the top of the cage with his mouth open. Is there something I should do for him too? Is he now really stressed out? Please help me get some answers, so I can make them as comfortable as possible as soon as possible. I have had the female for about a year, and a half with no problems till just now today. Thanks, Amanda

First you should fill out the how to ask for help form found in the health topic in forums. I will try to answer your questions from what you have described but more detail (which the form will help you to provide) is going to be better for more accuracy.
I would guess that your female was upset because she is not receptive right now. She will calm down soon after she realizes she is not in danger. As for your male it sounds like he is too hot and the temps need to be lowered. What are the temps?

As the male is new, I'm sure he will need some adjustment time.

You probably should cover the female for the night at least so she can settle down. You also might make it a point to cover one if you are getting the other out.

The temps are both around 82 degrees, and my room isn't very cool at night. I usually try to use their night light at night, but with things not cooling down in here I don't know if I should use the light. I could crack the window, but I don't know how cold it will get in here in the morning. Ill let it cool down in here for a little, and then close the window to try to drop the temp a little bit to see if it helps him out. I have now covered the females cage completely to try to make sure she stays calm, and can feel a little more unthreatened. I am new to this forum thing, so how do I find the ask for help type forums? I feel so stupid asking, but want to make sure that I do it right from now on.

Thank you for that comment it does make me feel a little better knowing that atleast I was thinking of the right thing to do, but didn't want to do something wrong to make things worse.

Unless you have a real health concern, it's not necessary to "fill out the form". There's a reason it's posted in the health forum.

It can, however, be educational and should you want to do it, here's the link.

Just copy the questions, paste them into a reply and type in your responses. Be as thorough as possible, names of bulbs, pictures of poop....everything you can give.

Don't worry about it cooling down at night. Unless it gets uncomfortable for you to move around at night, it's not too cold for your chameleon. They like a cool, dark night for sleeping.

Just in case you missed the importance of this. They need the dark to get a good sleep. If it ever cools down still leave that night light off. :)

Good luck with your Cham!

My male wont even eat for two days if he's near a female. He just paces and looks for her. Females when they're not "receptive" can get really fussy too. The get back to normal though. What part of Oregon are you in? Whenever we get nice weather I take my guys outside for a little while in the sun and it puts them all in a good mood.
