Help me! New chamleon owner!

If your parasite screen comes back negative it’s your green light to plan out a 2x2x4 cage when feasible I wish you best of luck.

I will second what I think @Beman said about sourcing bugs online as being safer than stores. A large reason is a lot of stores will cross contaminate their feeder supply by recycling uneaten bugs. They also may not wash hands between enclosures risking spreading stuff from one reptile to another.

My guy had pinworms and coccidia within a few months of me owning him. He either had them from the moment of me getting him or from contaminated bugs from a reptile store and I cannot say for certain which one was the cause.

His new mister and covers! Also his real plants-

Once you do go up to a bigger cage mounting plants on the sides is the move

I’ve personally used dragon ledges for this task but there’s also diy strategies to do so.

Best part about you having an temporary cage you’re using while you’re figuring out the health stuff is you can build out the full cage knowing your guy is comfortable for the moment being

Yeah! I actually wanna get those Ledges and stuff to suspend branches too. I gotta watch Neptune's video on it because some branches- do have trouble staying in place now after I kinda moved his stuff around to fit the potted plants. I wanna get plants for the corners and stuff later on, maybe a spider plant or another pothos (he loves his Pothos).

They have specific sizes for specific cage sizes. But yeah they’re awesome you can get cover higher up and they serve as a solid mounting point for your branch network too. It’s the only way I got it so my floor is entirely bare which allows me to use a mesh screen for full drainage of water out of the cage.

Also you cannot go wrong with pothos

They are fast growers, offer vines for climbing, and are hardy.

If you notice my guy enjoys hanging out over his pothos as it’s a nice little humidity sink
Your big guy is so cute! It's very helpful to see others cages on here. Really gives me and idea of how it should look or what I should add. Yeah, my pothos I drapped over branches and he loves to drink the drips off the leaves. Also the crickets that jump out of the feeder sit on it 🙄 but honestly he loves to catch them there.

Also very quick, I installed his mister and yeah- water spills out the edges pretty fast- so is there anything that can possibly be like TIGHTLY put against the screen to prevent water everywhere? I see Iroh you have walls? Or is that a hybrid screen cage?

Aww thanks for complementing my guy

This is a hybrid cage (specifically the dragon strand hybrid cage) the sides are PVC. They’re made by Bill Strand the chameleon academy guy, they are a little pricy, you can get a similar setup with supplies from a hardware store, at least in terms of solid sides.

But you can retrofit a screen cage to be a hybrid cage with panels, there’s lots of guides to do so.

People also use window wrap on 3 sides, some people use panels of shower curtain there’s work arounds.

I will say in a hybrid set up you gotta watch heat closer than a screen cage, I run a thermostat that keeps heat at basking level on point as the cage breathes less with solid sides.
