Help Just rescued 2 Cham

I just rescued 2 chams! 1 is male and the other female; they are used to sharing pens for a few hours a day, the are almost a year old each. She is always dark in colour and angry, hisses and wonders about trying to scratch at the glass. I tried taking her out of the cage to clean it but she will not have it! I think maybe she is due! But how do I tell because I don't have much experience with Chameleons; more so horned lizards and geckos.
The male seems fine; and has a hearty meal schedule but hers is one day great and the next she eats only half?
Somebody please help!!!!

Can you give us more specifics? do you know what kind are they? I can tell that you should keep tehm separate. And try to avoid fish tanks, screen cages are the way to go in most cases, specially if you are not experienced with chameleons. If you dont have access to screen cages, even bird cages would be better (in the mean time).

Try to keep them also in a way that they cannot look at each other, this will reduce stress on them, and try not to handle them excesively.

If the female eats one or two crix one day, and four or more the other its ok, as long as she still interested in food everyday.

To have a better idea if she is "due" could you post some pictures? apparent lack of appetite could be also a sign that she is "due", again, pics would help tons.

If this is an egglaying species I would put a suitable container of moist washed playsand in the cage to begin with.

We need to know the species and other information.
