Help for my chameleon

Cameleon Lover

Dear all,

I am from Malta and I have a Chameleon were I keep it in my garden. The garden is surrounded with walls. I have one orange tree and loads of plats.

As from last week I noticed that this chameleon was not acting normally. I noticed that in the morning when he usually would be already running around, I am finding him always at the same spot where I have left him and always asleep.

It is very strange that he stays asleep all day. The more days pass the more he is week.

As everyone knows, when a chameleon hunt for insects they are very quick in catching their pray with their tongue. When I observed him catching his pray he is so slow that the fly would fly away. I was getting worried that he is going to die with hunger so I had to catch flies myself.

Today I found him weaker, I found him upside down hanging on his tail on a wire and it didn't have the strength to pull up himself.

Here I think I gave a bit of a clear picture of what is happening to him.

Please can anyone tell me what can I do to save him!!! I need answers fast before it is too late.

Thanks a lot!

how is he getting his water? Maybe he is dehydrated! Are his eyes sunken in? Have you been getting any rain there? Sleeping in the day is a very bad sign. Do you have reptile vets over there?

Its likely a C. chamaeleon if its Malta...but a picture would confirm this. Can you post one please?

Is it ever on the ground? Male or female?

How cold is it there now during the day? Night? I know that the C. chamaeleons in Spain brumate/hibernate....so If the temperatures in the cooler months are similar they likely do in Malta too.

Its not good that its hanging by its tail and so weak. All I can suggest is taking it to a vet.
