Help!! fecal test

Hi everyone..
soo... as I posted before, my veiled male cham has been on hunger strike for about 3 to 4 weeks.
He does eat every now and then, and looks ok and active... (not very hydrated because he has been affraid of misting sessions since winter started).. but still he has his mist going on for 3 sessions of 10 minutes each, and a big dripper...

anyways... I did a fecal test just to make sure he didnt have any parasites that could be the causes of the hunger strike.

The thing is that theres no specialist vet in here where I live in mexico.. So a regular vet told me he could do the fecal test, but he wouldnt be able to help me out with a solution....
Could someone please help me out with this??

The test shows up this:

in spanish it says:
Se observo Giardia spp.
Moderadas bacterias

in english means:
Giardia spp. was observed
Moderated ammount bacteria

Could someone plase help me out??????

Giardia is a parasite and I believe it is normally treated with Panacur.

But how am I going to give it to him?
The vet has no idea about reptiles :S

I´ve been also reading about Giardia and it says that syphtoms of infections are diarreah..
My cham doesnt have diarreah...
could it be that he has low ammount of them?

The fecal results say moderate amounts. They don't always have diarrhea when infected with parasites.

hi there,
you need to get Panacur! I'm pretty sure your vet has it, it's a common medication.
How old is your cham? What's his weight?

Ok.. I will get panacur from the vet..
how much should I give him and how?
he is a male veiled he has turned 8 months now.
I havent weight him, I will as soon as I get to my house

armando, i would ask that if you can post my reply to you from our PM in this thread it may help alleviate some confusion. and although Panacur (fenbendazole) sometimes is used, metronidazole (Flagyl) is greatly preferred as we discussed.

also, in therms of your cleaning questions, stalincat’s blog has a great section on cleaning a cage with coccidia. giardia are not typically in as high numbers nor as easy to reinfect as coccidia are, but there are many excellent tips.
