Help! Chameleon not getting the crickets?

I just got an ambilobe panther chameleon and he is 8 months old. I have watched him shoot his tounge out at a cricket but it wont stick to the cricket. His aim is great, it just wont stick. What should i do. Feed him fruit flies? Help!

Try hand feeding the crickets to him. Like, pick up the cricket and put it near his face so he can bite it out of your hand.

I'm not sure why his tongue is not sticky though. You might wanna re post this thread in the health section. That can be serious.
