Help! baby chameleon has his eye shut

It might be the light, but if he's been eating and drinking normally it could possibly be that he's about to shed? When my chameleon is in shed mode he'll close his eye a lot too and sometimes rub it to get the shed off. Still, try to fix the lights first.

I would get the linear bulb and hood and then get some wood block or something to lift it off the cage... you could even go down to 2.0 for a few months it wouldn't be problematic for that long and he'd still get some uvb

Yea he's eating perfectly fine, like 8-10 crickets a day and still wants more

Ok, now what could happen if I did nothing and kept the same lights? Would he go blind or something?

He could very well burn his eyes to the point where he went blind if it is the lights he's sensitive to. Either way it seems at the moment the uvb light is bothering him.

Alright I'll fix it, could I raise it a few inches with a light bracket would that help? Or could just turning it on for limited hours of the day help or could I just get a 2.0 bulb.

A light bracket would help. But if he is closing his eyes because the light is too strong it'll be too strong for him even if it's just on a couple of hours. Do like Andee suggested and try a 2.0 light and see how his eyes handle that.

I honestly have never seen a bulb, linear is always better especially with 2.0. If it has to do with money I am sorry to tell you this but chameleons are not cheap pets. Vet visits are eventually going to happen just like they do with every animal. You will eventually realize you need a good automatic mister which run around 200 dollars. You definitely need more foliage whether plastic or real. Their food alone if you aren't breeding can make you go broke because of the amounts of different types. It is recommended to have at least 6 different types of feeders to rotate through. Chameleons are not simple and not cheap, pets aren't in general. No matter who you ask on the forum linear uvb lights will be recommended. And uvb lights need to updated every 6 months.

Edit: if I remember the size cage that comes with the chameleon kit you will also need to upgrade that. A minimum for an adult chameleon is 2ftx2ftx4ft

They used to have them at petco but recently, at least in my area petco has been getting skimpy on their goods. But you might still be able to order them from their online store. If not I'm sure Amazon probably have some.
