Hi I was wondering if anyone can tell me the type of panther chameleon I have if anyone can tell at this age. Not very much color yet but really neat patterns.

So off topic question.... The first pic he is not showing the darker spots right on his dorsal crest but the other pics he is showing two areas of much darker coloration right on his spikes. Do those darker areas go away or have they just recently appeared and are staying there?

I put arrows at the areas in the picture.

Ok perfect just wanted to make sure they are going away and not staying. They look very similar to the start of a thermal burn and those are the areas that normally are at risk if the basking temp or distance is too close to the fixture.
I dont think that is happening the temp right next to his basking stick is 85 right now and he moves around the cage and cools off. See how the bars on top are green now.

How close is he to the actual fixture and what bulb wattage are you using? 85 is a bit higher then we recommend for the basking area. 80-85max would be your range. You have to figure if the branch is 85 then where he rises up it is hotter.

It may be completely normal coloring but if your seeing it change and scab then it is a thermal burn.

I will lower his basking spot a lil then the temp is 84 now at where his head hight is at when basking and then the branch slopes down so his head would be highest if hes going up. This is a pic of when i first got him right after a shead he actually has some skin still on his other side when i got him home.

looks good there and like I said it may very well be his normal coloring. I just would hate for it to be a thermal burn and not have said something.
Hold your hand under the basking fixture if it is uncomfortable for you then it is too hot for him. :)

No its like just as warm as my hand maybe a lil warmer like putting your hand in the sun on a warm day
Im also in florida so its nice and humid here i mist him 3-4 times a day and put his dripper on 3 times a day. Im home all day so i just sit here and watch him and hes very active. He moves to different spots in the cage to bask. Hes eating well about 10 crickets a day more or less. I feed him a superworm every other day. I dust his food with calcium. vitamins once a week.
