Hi! Just introducing myself... I'm very new to this sort of thing... i've only ever owned a dog lol
I saw a veiled for the first time up close in a local pet store and knew I had to have one. Went back to get her and she was gone and so now i wait for a male to come in.
I will post pics of him when he is settled... :)

welcome, this is a great site for resources help and information. Please tell me you ave done research on owning a chameleon and not just be "ouuu pretty me want!" and go buy one. Their not the average pet takes lots of work. Use the site to help you out rather than pet store employees. goodluck!

By coming here you are making the right first move for your pet! Here are some caresheets for veiled chams, these will get you started. I agree with the no pet store info, typically pet stores give general reptile care, not the specialized care chameleons need. They are delicate creatures, but when I got started I had no reptile experience either. Find a good vet in your area and provide good husbandry and your new friend will do fine! Then you will want another... :D

Thank you! any and all advice or info is welcome... I have been reading and watching everything I can get my hands on about chams... again tanks for all your help and advice in advance because I will be checking back probably every day once he is home

Welcome to the Chameleon Forums. Veileds are awesome and one of my favorite species of chameleons. My advice to you is to do plenty of research and have all of your supplies and everything setup running and tested BEFORE you get your chameleon. A male for a first time keeper is a good idea so you don't have to deal with egg laying. After you read the blogs above be sure to ask any questions for things you are not sure about. There's plenty of experienced keeper here to help you. :)

Welcome, do lots and lots of reading on a chameleon before you buy. Also beware of pet store chameleons, they are generally not very healthy, and don't take advice from those people cause in most cases they don't know what they're talking about.

I stalked on here, and groups on facebook (lizard addictz, and chameleon central USA) for a couple of months before I got my panther, and in was really even ready them but I couldn't pass him up. And I still have questions from time to time.

Read in the health clinic, enclosures, food, supplements, lighting, etc. you cannot be too overly prepared but you can certainly be under prepared for a chameleon! They are indeed cool little creatures!

Best of luck :)
