Hi!

I just joined this great forum and thought I should introduce myself. My name is Annica and I live in Sweden. I work as a veterinarian (mostly dogs and cats). One day I was given a leopard gecko, including terrarium, for free because the owner didn't want it anymore and wanted it eutanised. I asked if I could have it instead and the answer was "yes" :) And from there on I was hooked on reptiles... :p

I have been interested in chamaeleons a long time now and this week I finally got my first two. It's a proven breeder female and a younger male of the species C. hoehnelii. I'm interested in any tips anyone might have about housing this species. :)

Other than the chamaeleons I also have 1.1 leopard geckos and 1.1.1 Tokay geckos in my collection.

Welcome! This site is an awesome information forum for chams. There is so much to know about caring for them. I would give you answers but it would fill up this thread. For starters here are some good sites to help you:

http://keepingchameleons.com

http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/

http://chameleonnews.com/

http://adcham.com/

I would recommend checking these sites out in order to get some basics. Then come back and ask us questions before going out and buying anything. Most likely some of us know where the best deals are and if it is needed before you waste your money. One thing for sure that I know you can get from your work is an I.V. to use as a water dripper. They work great for giving your chams something to drink. Fill it up with water, hang it up, and let it drip onto some leaves inside the enclosure. good luck

Thanks for the links. I have surfed the web quite a lot the last couple of months to learn as much as possibly (my boyfriend complains about my internet habits, lol). I will try the iv-bag trick for sure :)

hello lilamy!
welcome to the forums.

Welcome :)

Welcome to the group! I can't help you with the species of chameleon that you keep, but I can still wish you a big WELCOME! Thanks for caring for cats and dogs as a vet too. I am a huge cat fan and naturally like anyone who helps them out :)

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on getting your first chameleons. Be prepared, it becomes addictive.
