Hello,
My name is Emily I'm 28 and living in Niles, Michigan. I'm currently attending school taking Computer Aided Drafting & Design classes hoping to earn a certificate degree in CADD by the end of the year. I subscribed to Chameleon Forums about a month ago, but haven't got around to introducing myself until now.
I love all animals especially the ones that have their own room and don't talk back. I became interested in reptiles & amphibians when I was just a youngster around 6 years of age. I'm more of a reptile enthusiast, but still like the wet slimy amphibians. When I was young my parents had a cottage on a small lake that we would visit and stay for the weekends during the summer months. Everyday I was always out on an expedition catching snakes, turtles and frogs. I seemed to bring home a different critter every weekend, but eventually released it back into the wild later within the week. I've caught and kept many different species of reptiles & amphibians throughout the years. I have even had success with a few desert wild caught lizards. One particular WC lizard that I admired the most and survived the longest was a small "Bunch Grass Lizard". I caught her as a hatchling in 2003 while visiting my Aunt & Uncle in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She lived a long healthy 7.5 years in captivity. She has since passed on of old age back in the spring of 2010. I sure do miss her! Within the last few years I've had 3 lizards pass on which were over 5 years of age and since then have also downsized my reptile collection. I haven't sold or given away any animals. I mean since the last 3 lizards died I've just stopped collecting more specimens. Right now I own a 50/50 California Banded King snake breed with a California Mountain King snake that I collected back in 2004 as a hatchling from a Reptile Expo. One female captive born Bahaman Anole that is the offspring of the mom anole that I purchased from PetSmart. She will be 7 years old this August. 2 WC Green Anole yearling's that I caught back in December 2008 in Jacksonville, FL while visiting my Aunt. I've owned them for 3 years. They are estimated to be around 4-6 years of age right now. Recently I have added a new specimen to my reptile collection. I've welcomed a 2 month old male Veiled Chameleon. I purchased him last Sunday from a breeder at a Reptile Show. For the past year I have been thinking about getting another Veiled Chameleon. I came across my custom built 2x2x3 screened enclosure that housed my last Veiled Chameleon. I had also bought him too from the same breeder. After 3 years I had to find a home for him because I was unable to care for him due to funds. If I still had my 1st Veiled today he'd be 8 years old.
