Hello! I'm new to this forums! I'm on several other forums too. But, I'm here to tell y'all that I have 5 lizards:) Green Iguana, Crested Gecko, two bearded dragons and one Veiled Chameleon!

I just got my Veiled Chameleon last weekend at an expo. I orginally went to the expo for a baby crestie, but my mom somehow fell in love with this veiled chameleon, and decided to bring it home! Darn, that crestie I was ready to pick out was really cute, but I cant complain, this Veiled Chameleon is cool!

Here's a picture of all my lizards!:)

Y'all can tell me what you think of the pictures and whatnot.

For my Veiled Chameleon, any bad things for the enclosure? I thought I did a good job.. Only thing now, is i got to figure out a fogger/humidifer/etc... for it. When we got the lizard, the breeder told my mom that they didn't need alot of humidity... I wanted to question that but I didn't. Do I need a lot of humidity or no? If so, what way works pretty good to keep it up?

Live plants will help keep the humidity up. Along with a dripper and 3-4 good thorough mistings of the whole cage should keep it up. Veiled's are one of the hardiest chameleons. They can go without the humidity being up to high, so don't stress it to much. But it is important to not have the cage bone dry :D

I love your crested! I thought about getting one of em, are they that hard to maintain?

Also keep in mind that chameleons are very intelligent. They aren't your average lizard.

okay perfect. Bought this HUGE pothos that was hanging at home depot.... my mom was like... thats WAY to big.. im like no mom.. just watch and learn what im gonna do:) and haha, it sure fit! but i did cut off like 2 vines, it was just too much... so yeah.
And really? Veiled's are?? I didnt know that. How come they are the hardest? And dripper.. hmm... gatorade bottle, pin hole in the cap.. full of water? good idea? bad idea?

Thanks!! He actually got very very very sick...:( bad skin infection.. and it was gross... like mold growing on him.. and yuck.. Dunno why but he's all better now! Just a perment scar on him:( ohwell! He's still a good lookin guy. you cant see the scar from the picture. Crested geckos.... are SIMPLE. 10 gallon tank, 4 inches of eco earth, clutter the tank with hides/leaves/logs... cgd every other night(i switch out every night to spoil my guy) and keep humidity up(if screen, tape u the top, or replace with glass top) and boom... thats all you need for them. Also i provide him a heat pad so the humidity rises too. With cgd, he doesnt need anything else... but, i also give him crickets.. which he doesnt need since cgd provides all the minerals and vitaimas.. but i just like to spoil him. but other than that, he's easy!

And hmm.. yeah i kinda noticed.... my cham will like go parallel with the stick or whatever so its harder for me to see if i come up to the tank... so like he "disappears" haha.

Do you know if you have a male or a female?

thanks for that thread! will book mark it and keep it as a reference!

and.... i'm not sure. ive been told female... so female?!

Around 6-7 months of age, female's will produce infertile clutches of eggs, regardless of being bred or not. You can cut back on her food intake and basking levels to reduce the size of the clutches and how long it will take her to lay them.

You will need a bin for her to lay her eggs in, with moist play sand in. When she's ready to lay she will go to the laying bin and dig a hole to lay her clutch. She needs ABSOLUTE privacy when doing so. If she see's you glancing at her while she starts to dig, she will most likely abandon laying and become egg bound and it wouldn't end very well.

For a better idea on how to do it heres a thread lol. I'm just stating my knowledge from reading :D

at that age, the coloring of the male and female pretty much look the same same and the true way to tell the gender is by checking the back heel of the back feet. Males wll have a little point, or tarsal spur as it is called, and the females will not.

Thanks for the info!! How do I do this if my cage is already filled with stuff though?

One question....
You got this whole tank right? I put crickets in, most are like on the bottom not climbing the leaves and stuff.... Some will climb the screen then the Cham will see but I'm worried that if the crickets don't climb upward, the Cham won't get food....
