Heating?

I have a 100 watt heat lamp for my panther chameleon. The basking temperature varies way too much. I have seen 80 which I hear is too low and I just saw 91. I am very confused on what to do to keep the temp steady. I originally had a 75 watt bulb which never broke 80 so I had to buy a new one.

upper limit is upper 90's. You should be shooting for lower 90's. The only reason to go lower than lower 90's is if its a prego girl, and even then its questionable.

Does your room temperature fluctuate. Because if it does it will fluctuate your basking temp as well. This is an issue for me, as my apartment does not have a thermostat, but instead a dial that has a 1-5 setting, which will fluctuate the room temp when the temp outside changes. I know awesome system.

Anyway I have dial/dimmer on my heat lamp which I adjust daily as needed. Not the best solution, but it works.

I have to keep my basking around 80 or my girl will lay every 45 days or so, which is not good for her. As per many threads on this seems to be an accepted practise.

Sorry not trying to be a smart ***, just thought I would through that in.

Nah you are good. Right now we dont even know if its a girl or a boy. Hell i know several keepers that wont even give female veild's a basking spot. They just kinda nuke under a close branch to the uv light.
