I know, incans are getting harder to find in some wattages.
More then 60W at 8 to 10'' away will likely give you more then 82F.
I found that 40W is perfect for babies and montanes, but everyone's setup is different.
You will need a reliable digital thermometer with probe attached to the basking spot to monitor the temp over a period of time.
Also, you can use a 'in line' lamp dimmer if the bulb is too hot.
You just need to experiment with different bulbs.
Incan's seem to distribute the heat more evenly, w/o hot spots, and over a wider area.
I can now only find incan's on Ebay, or Amazon, were I buy them by the case when I find them.
