He prefers to hunt his food!

My new jacksons male will not eat out of the cricket feeder I made for him. He will sit there and look at the cricks, but will not eat one.

Overnight I checked in the morning, and all the cricks were still in the feeder!!

If I put the cricks on the branches or leaves for them to wander through the cage, that gets his attention and he will hunt them down and eat them.

He is generally a very laid back and lazy cham, so I am a bit surprized that he would not eat from a feeder.

Also, unlike my little veiled cham, this guy has no "potty training!!",
he just lets it drop where ever!!
This means I have to search the leaves every day for poop!!
My veiled will climb to the bottom of his cage and always poops in the same spot, very convenient for me to clean up.

My panther is the same way. every cham I own cup feeds. except him. If its not free ranged bugs, he wont look at them.

THe minute the bug gets loose.. he eats it.

So i just get a cup of bugs that ive dusted, and put it in his cage. but the cup is small enough that the crickets can get out easily. once they do.. he stalks them and eats!

My veil, same way. I may try the cup again now that he's settled in to his new home. They free ranged the crickets at the shop I bought him from, I think the cup knda freeked him out. He seems happy "hunting".

Yeah, that may be it, the cup doent "look right" to him.

I hate to just throw cricks in there. Half of them end up on the floor and quickly find a hiding place or escape from the bottom.

I like the idea of putting them in a cup, then place the cup on some vines close to the top and let them climb out, then remove the empty cup.

I also cant get him to eat silkworms! everybody else LOVES silkys!! only tried twice, so maybe still hope.
He is not eating from my hand yet, but I am putting my hand in the cage every day so he can get used to me.

You could maybe try different types of cup - my guy refused to eat from a few cups but I tried a fairly shallow green one and he eats whatever goes into the cup now :)

My nephew was the same way. Refused to drink from anything other than his Tigger cup :D

lol they just like to give the crickets a sporting chance, no fun shooting fish in a barrel kind of thing. :D

ditto
I have animals that wont eat out of shiny bowls, or white bowls, that will happily zot prey that is in the same type of bowl in a dark colour. A larger bowl, as opposed to a small cup, may also be more stimulating (more prey movement)

I use a cut out pint milk container with plastic net glued to the inside so the cricks can climb up but noplace to go! so they are sitting ducks!!

My little veiled cham loves his! he gets all the way inside it!
When he is hungry, he will walk over to it, and stair at it untill I dump some cricks in! LOL

My jacksons is way different behaviour
