He finnally arrived!

He looks great-mine used to get those colors when he was hunting. Try not to worry too much. Sounds like he may be closing his eyes to hide like you said. Just keep a light eye on him. If he still doesn't eat, raise the temps up a few degrees but he is prob just adjusting.

I think he is eating, there were barley in crix in the tank this morning, and I put about 15-20 in there yesterday.... unless they are hiding or something? There are a few under the basking light they seem to like it more than my cham does! :p

I didn't say put a cricket in there that has been dead for 2 weeks. What I do is get a cricket, kill it, and set it on a branch, and then she eats it.

He was replying to what I said, I noticed a cricket drowned after I misted, I just took it out and threw it away just to be safe.

I just got home from work, I don't thin he realy ate any crix today, what could be wrong? Should I try to get a different feeder? He has only been in there a day maybe he needs a few days or something?

Since I got him on thursday, I have yet to see him bask!

He gets sorta close to the light, at the bottm and not really directly under it, he might get some light, but imagine its only 75ish in the area he chills in, 6" under the light is 82 and the brances are a few inches below that so I think the temps should be perfect for him, right?

The humidity is staying up, 40-70%, and he is finally eating. I got som meal worms in a can from PetsMart for like $3, he ate those right away, and I finally saw him snatch a cricket.

He sounds fine, just be careful with mealworms. They shouldn't really be offered, if eaten too much, it can cause an impaction, and he won't be able to digest them.

Really? Thanks for the info, ill ditch these and look for some other worms or roaches to use.

He is warming up to his cage it seems like, he has been much brighter the last 2 days, moving around alot, but not basking, which is odd I think.

It will take him a while to get used to his new enviroment. Oh also if you ever get the chance to go to pets inc in tempe, they have silkworms but they are quiet expensive. I believed Jim who is a member on this board, said something about 12 bucks a cup.

Silkie, phoenix worms, and small hornworms are all great.
Dubia is excellent too. You probably don't want to free roam dubia in your enclosure. use cup feed method.
These creatures are very elusive. They can hide real well.

you don't really need to ditch the mealworms.
But, feed your cham with mealworms (once in a while).
think of them like French fries. :)
you do not want to feed your kid with Fries every day, right?
once in a while is ok.. (maybe like once a week as a treat, or even less)

As far as not basking, give him some time.
He is adjusting to a new environment. Sooner or later, he will figure out that there is no predator in the cage. and the big giant that keep coming to bother him is a nice moving tree with lots of insects and water. :)

Move slowly around him and try to give him as much alone time as possible.

Thanks for the advice, I usually try to move really slow.

He slept on a leaf right in front of the cage last night, it was really cool to see him sleep, even with me coming in and out a few times, he didnt move or wake up.

My girlfriend is in love with him, she wants one now. ::D

I put like 3 meal worms in his tank this morning, along with 15 crix, and the crix at the meal worms!

Is this common?

Yeah, I fed them collard greens, carrots, and a slice of orange, with some flukers gutload in there too..

They didn't seem to eat much of anything though. Maybe ill try a new gutload.

That's what I keep them at too, but if you keep them in the 80s I think they digest and eat more. I just got some light bulbs for them last night.
