we put a stick next to him and he actually puffed up at him, like i said when i put my hand by him he runs to the top of the cage. You can use a stick, and let him climb onto it. Or you can try with your hand and see how he reacts.
This has happened to me before with a Cham that will seriously murder people. Ok.. look for gloves around your house. Preferrably thick ones. But any will do. Just in case he bites, it might make you feel more secure anyways. My Cham was not pleased with me picking him up but I was so worried because he was literally right next to his heat lamp. It got to the point where I just said screw it and grabbed him quickly.. instinct. If he is small, it won't be a huge deal if he bites you. You can try to distract him with one hand, while slowly moving the other under him. But in my situation, that is an hour long process. By the end me and my animal are stressed out and ready to cry. Lol. He is really difficult. I'm not sure if your Chameleon is difficult or you are just worried that he might bite. Even though Bodhi has gotten very close to biting me, it hasn't happened yet. I would just say to do it. Just find it in yourself to grab him. Especially if he could be in any kind of danger. But the most common method is to distract, go from underneath their body, and move slowly. It just depends on the situation. Try non't be scared. I'm still scared of my male Veiled, especially now that he is 8 months old. Your Cham is much smaller than you and he is scared too. But you can't really get around this situation. You could also try to bait him back into his cage somehow. Maybe food or treats. If you have any worms, have a coupLe ready and give him a worm one by one leading back into his cage. Just a thought.
Wait it out for a but and see where he goes. You can always change the direction he's facing. You kid of learn every way in the book when you have a difficult Cham for a while. The fact that he is by a wall is actually a good thing. That is one less direction he can run. Try the towel and stick/plant thing. Wait it out and see I'd he moves. If not go to him and try to scare him in one of those directions. Keep updating and let us know what's going on. We'll get this little bugger eventually. Haha.
Sorry but I have to ask.
What does having him for a week have to do with not holding him?
Puffing up is pretty normal anyway.![]()
lol, we finally got him back in. We took his cage and put it on the ground and we put a fake plant next to him and he climbed onto it. I put my finger under him, and he actually held on for a good 30 seconds it was the coolest thing ever, then he ran onto the stick back into his cage. Thnx for all the help![]()
Lets just hope he stays calm, but puffing would be okay because it means he is alert and is reacting to a bigger creature(protecting itself). Remember, it would be like KING KONG walking around us and going in for a grab every now and then. I might get a little puffy if that happened.oh i meant that like ive only had him for a week and hes not used to me so ive never held him. So if he doesnt puff up its not normal? Because he doesnt puff up towards us
