Have you ever wondered about Losusts

Have any of you watched a nature film or movie where locusts swarm over large areas and are made out as a plague for mankind and everything else in the area? Then while you the chameleon owner is watching considered asking "could you save me some of those locusts for my chameleons?"

No, I haven't wondered...we don't use locusts as food over here in Canada.
You may be interested to know that locusts are really normal grasshoppers gone "crazy" due to overcrowding. I think its fascinating even though its harmful.

That's a shame no locusts/grasshoppers not even during the summer. The only thing that tops locust/grasshoppers in terms of food favorites for my chameleons is a big green mantis.

I know all grasshoppers can swarm however what is normally called a locust here to my knowledge is a separate species to the predominate grasshoppers here where I live in Central California. They are very different in terms of body shape and morphology and are completely different colors. I can ID them just give me some time to collect and key them to confirm. I think they are separate species.

We have locusts as readily available as crickets here in the UK. We are not able to get hornworms though as they are considered to be pests, much like locusts are in the States. Both my chams love locusts and I struggle to get them to eat crix.

Exactly what I'm posting about. Sorry though this computure does not have speekers and missed the audio. I would go at the swarm with my field collecting net catch a couple of thousand put them in containers and feed them out to my chameleons for a couple of months.
