Have you cleaned your cham's eyes?

I cleaned one of my chams eyes for the first time yesterday.. he had a bubble looking thing on his right eye.. i took a wet Q tip and GENTLY rubbed it towards the hole of his eye's skin and !!! this little breast implant looking thingy tinted pink came out...... has anybody experienced this before???

it seems to me that he doesnt hate me as much now..hah

I'm trying to picture what an implant looks like but my mind keeps wandering...

lol true...its a clear soft ballooned material with gel like stuff inside of it, with a tint of pink..

the beggining of an eye infection possibly, try the web for medication.

When my male had an eye infection I would pull that same looking thing out. It sorta looks like a cloudy contact lens right? I think it is a build up of bacteria, or pus like stuff. I would make sure to mist him for a while, because he will naturally clense his eye, and also a vet visit if possible. He will be able to give you some eye ointment. If a vet visit is completly out of the question, you can get terrymiycin(sp??) at chain pet stores. I am not positive that this is an eye infection, but it sound like it compared to my experiences. It sounds like you caught this early, and with the right treatment he should be perfectly fine! Good luck!

yeah lol i forgot to mention that i tried doing something less stressful to him first! i gave him a 20 min shower to help him continue cleaning his eye but nothing seemed to work out for him. My friends who had told me to do so, are very experienced in Panther Chameleons. They said its pretty common. He's looking great by the way. I'll post some pics up tonight. thanks for your concerned replies!
