is it normal for a new born chameleon to grab on to his own limbs?...my new born is active and moves around but i notices it grabbin on to its own limbs,and its closing its eyes is this normal cause there just getting used to keeping there balance and walking around???

I would think if its barely 24 hours old.. that it needs some time to adjust to the world and using its limbs properly.

are there any deformities you can see in it?

I mean, if you spent 9 months curled in an egg, wouldnt you need to learn to use your limbs?

nope no deformations...wait this one took like 7 monthes to hatch......is that a bit early???

7 months is a bit early, but not uncommon.

esp if you had your temps higher.

I would say, just give it a few days and see how it goes.

I have hatched out quite a bit of babies and have never seen one do that. All of mine hatch out at 7 months with out problems, your hatch time is fine

what is his set up right now? I use a reptisun 5.0 UVB and a basking on all my babies, keeping there temps between 85 and 90 just like you would an adult. with more frequent mistings though. I mist them thouroughly with warn water once I take them out of the tupperware before putting them in there cage.

I recommend cutting windows, and hot gluing screen to the cut out holes. One on each side of the container for ventilation, it helps prevent it from staying too wet in the container. And a 60 watt bulb may do. It depends on your ambient temps.

I would get a bin that is at least 10 to 12" tall, 8 wide and 12 long. Drinking is a good sign. Did you hose him down to get the substrate off?

Yes do that, I find that ventilation is key, I also make slits at the bottom of the cage for drainage, you don't want it staying too wet, they need like 8 mistings or so a day but it is very important to let the cage dry out. Basking temps and a place to cool down is also very important. Having a range from like 75 to 85 or so is also very important. With proper UVB as well of coarse. But if your tub is too small, you won't be able to do that properly

Yes, he should be fine until later
