Hatchling not coming out of the egg.

I have a new hatchling that hasn’t yet left the egg. It’s just laying in the egg motionless with his head poked out for 3 days now. It has not moved once and I’m getting worried. It doesn’t look dead, but then again I don’t know what a dead hatchling would look like. It’s colors are still pretty bright. Should I be worried or is this part of the normal hatching process?

It’s usually recommended to let the chameleon come out on its own…if they aren’t strong enough to do that chances are they won’t live long anyway…as long as the head /nose is out.

The hatchlings will lay in the egg until they’ve absorbed the rest of the yolk sac as a rule…then exit the egg. They usually look dead while laying there.

I wouldn’t keep taking the lid off the container to check on it because you will dry out the shell and it might get stuck in the egg then.
