Has anyone tried an 18x18x36 for baby panther?

Im getting a 3 month old panther and Ive read alot of threads on here about cage size and most dont recommend it but im trying to save money so i dont have to buy another cage in the future. has anyone has success with this? or do i have to get a smaller cage.

We got our panther at around 4 and a half months, and put him straight into a well planted 24x18x48 vivarium. We made sure to have feeders at all levels of the vivarium so he could always find food and that he had enough spots to hide as well as bask and get UV, and we had no problems!

That said, the growth rate at that age is pretty fast so I'm not sure if at 3 months it might be a little too small. Chameleons are escape artists too, so make sure there are not even any tiny gaps for it to fit out of! It might be worth closing off part of the enclosure if you made a divider for it?

yea i know they grow fast so i appreciate the advice. Ive had a flapneck for along time but not a panther. ive had friends with them just curious what everyones experience has been with it, glad it works. i plan on getting a larger once hes bigger

I think that's alright. Mine's a bit smaller than that with my new 4month old. I've seen and read about folks using smaller enclosures at younger ages, or just going for the full sized 2x2x4 enclosure. In talking with a few breeders, they recommended I stay with a smaller enclosure at a younger age to help with catching feeders.

Once my boy gets around 8-9 months old, he's going into a nice dragon strand.

You can always buy the big cage and keep him in a bin until he's a little bigger

i think im just gonna get an extra large cage and do cup feeding and a few free range

I've seen some folks doing it for babies, but the breeders I've contacted recommend not doing that so that they can catch their prey easier. I've got the Screameleons set up kit for my little boy until late summer.

Interesting. Well im gonna try cup feeding and some free range. I know hell love the open space! Pretty sure hell enjoy it

with the right lighting, gut loading feeders and dusting he will grow like a weed. i got mine at 8 months and he grew a ton he is already over a foot long at 10 1/2 months
