Has anyone else done this?

I noticed that Mr.Pink's urates were a little yellow in colour the past couple days so I've been giving him extra mistings, but haven't seen him drink. I do long warm misting that he really enjoys, but he only smacked his lips a few times, and didn't actually go and get a drink from the leaves or anything.

I just misted him a few minutes ago with room temp water and he like ran right up into the direct spray. This time I tried lessening the flow to a fast drip and let it drip on his nose. He immediately pointed his nose up towards it and started drinking right from the spray bottle!

I've seen many posts about hydration issues on this site, and have never seen anyone suggest trying this, or haven't seen anyone talk about this happening. I've never hand watered him before.

Lately Mr.Pink has learned to really like us. He likes to come out of the cage now, and we're hoping that he stays this way through adulthood!

Has anyone else ever hand-hydrated their cham like this?

I shouldn't say "drip on his nose, because it never touched his nostrils, cause that would cause him to aspirate or drown... what I meant to say was that I dripped it onto the tip of his mouth. He loved it :D

I have always had a hard time making my chameleon drink..
It has worked for me before that way too... does he have a dripper ??
Its very good to have one running at least 2 times at day...

He avoids drippers, and although I've used them, he hasn't. His mister regularly goes off every 3 hours for one minute each time. I don't see him drink too often. I'm going to keep with the manual dripping until I can rig something up that he can drink from directly. Before i had a dripper it was dripping through the screen on the top of the cage... maybe I can attach a small hose, control the flow, and see if he drinks from that.

A lot of chameleons are shy about drinking and will only do it when you are not in the room. Some chameleons prefer if the dripper has a hose that goes into the cage. Also make sure the dripper is dripping onto several leaves so they can drink from them. Most of my chameleons have learned to drink from needle-less syringes or pipettes and really seem to like them. They will even stick the tip in their mouths and just let the water drip straight into their mouths for a while.
