Hand feeding?

I got a baby Jackson Chameleon yesterday (3 months old). He still tries to hide from me so I think he still needs some time to get used to everything before he is more comfortable around me. I know this may vary greatly, but how long do you think that might take? Or rather, as that may be impossible to answer, is there any tips you could give me to better my relationship with him, to perhaps even get to the point where he could be handled more often (to take outside for some sun for instance)?

My main question though is his feeding method. He ate for the first time today, so I am proud of him. He won't take it out of my hand, and the cage is too big for free range right now. So I put the crickets in a cup and he went for them. It seems he defecated right afterwards. the fecal matter was pretty much brown, it just looks like a bean. Is this okay? And lastly, do you think I will be able to hand feed him eventually?

I started hand feeding by first using a dubia roads on a kabob skewer. First I would use the skewer to place the roast on a branch in the middle of the cage. When he was towards the front I'd offer it to him a good body length away and wait until he came close. Eventually he got so excited he started picking em off my hand. Still very shy to handling but I have hope.

He's eating! That's great! I coaxed mine to hand feed by first holding the cup with the crickets for in front of him. He got used to taking food from the cup in my hand, and became so used to my hand that he'll now take food from my fingers or palm.
