I've had a baby female veiled chameleon since Christmas. I really love her and posted recently about the bonding & trust process. Hand feeding was recommended and she did it last night (teh 2nd time I have tried)!! :D I am so happy!

How often are Wax Worms ok, and should I be handfeeding her something better or different also?

Congratulations !! :D That`s such a fantastic moment when they first hand feed - She obviously really trusts you. Wax worms are ok for the occassional treat, but have no nutritional value for the cham. Crickets and locusts are good and Gizzy loves to eat rocket and apple.

Congratulations! It's the best feeling when they handfeed for the first time! That feeling stays with you every time they do it! Sounds like she is starting to trust you, and that's a good sign! Chameleons are easily bribed with food, lol! Waxworms are rather fatty - kind of like cham sweets and should be used as occasional treats. Try offering silkworms or Phoenix worms by hand - these are much better for her and can be fed on a daily basis too!:D

I will have to look into rocket...not sure what that is? Do I get all those other foods online? Phoenix worms and silk worms would be great than. Thanks for the help and advice. I see your Cham's name is Gizzy.....my Cham's name is Tizzy. :)

Isnt it great when that slimy, cold tongue smacks your finger and snatches the cricket? Mine do it all the time and whenever one of mine sees me he runs to me and his mouth opens a bit and he gets his tongue ready. It is so funny.

Oh my goodness, I didn't do a cricket......just a waxworm.. Crickets are fast so yours must get them quickly, right? She is still "thinking" about it for a bit. lol

You can get silk, horn and phoenix worms on line. Check out some of the sponsor links to see if any are close to you.

Rocket is known as Arugula here in the states, and you can just get that at the supermarket :)

Amy has started to do that too, lol! Yesterday she was sat on my daughter's hand and I fed her a waxie and when I held out my hand for her to go back in her cage she was aiming at my empty palm, bless her!:D And when she saw her morning locust coming the other day she ran across the cage with her tongue out a bit! She's such a greedy moo - would eat all day if I let her, lol!

Sally is referring to 'wild rocket' - it comes in prepacked bags at the supermarket - I use it as a gutload but mine won't eat it on it's own!

I will have to check into "Rocket".....thanks... they are not alive then, right? I was so excited, she hand fed again yesterday as soon as I tried again. :D

I believe rocket, is a crazy UK name for a veggie. Not a bug. Techically it is alive though.
