Hand feeding my cham

So my cham is kinda tame, he's ok with being held, but I still can't get him out of his enclosure without food, he's so used to being hand fed that every time I open his door to clean, water, etc, he runs to the door, tongue ready, and tries to smack my hand, I can't get him to just climb on, I have to lure him. Did I make a mistake hand feeding him? How can I get him to come to me?

Well it's good that you tried luring him out with food but usually that's good for you to gain their trust. Try just leaving your hand out until he comes on.

I try but he's constantly trying to slap my hand with his tongue and he gets stuck. I don't want him to hurt himself,

Bill Strand recommends to use the technique you’re doing but then hold the food in one hand where you use the other as a platform for a “stepping stone” to teach the feeder.
