Halogen bulbs...

Since they're doing away with clear incandescent bulbs are clear halogen bulbs ok to use as a replacement?

I just ordered some halogen lights online for my reptiles. Finding the incandescent bulbs is becoming very difficult. My local petshop has also started making the switch. The halogen lights put off more heat and last longer. For example a 25watt has the heat output of a 50watt.

I've been using those halogen exterior (spot or flood type) lights for years after getting tired of the short life of "regular" house incandescents that break too easily in the socket.

Same thing going on here aswell.there calling them energy savers.could they be dangerous for the chams as there gas filled.also car bulbs are halogen also and they get too got to touch if they have been on for a while so be careful with your wattages

I thought halogens put out less heat and more light, there by being more efficient. Maybe there is a whole radiant heat vs convection heat argument.
